Work and Technology

Brave New Workplace book coverBrave New Workplace, published by The Viking Press (Elisabeth Sifton Books) in 1985, was a pioneering critique of how corporations misuse computer technologies to limit people’s power and autonomy at work.

The New York Times Book Review called it “well written and broadly conceived” and predicted that with its “bold position clearly stated and unambiguously argued, the book is likely to become an important point of reference.”

The Times also selected Brave New Workplace as one of the 200 “most notable books” of 1985.
